A Life of Adversity

Most people that knew me from back in the past would think I had it made. I had everything a very young man could dream of, house with a pool, Cadillac’s, Mercedes, big boats, motorcycles, a professional athletic career, money, fame, and tons of friends--all the toys that we as humans think will make us happy. But what has made me the man I am today is not all the stuff and things that I can get my hands on, but what I have learned from loosing them.

The thing that allows me to relate to hurting people is that I have been in their shoes.

Here are just a few things that I’ve been through and that I share openly about as I strive to be transparent speaker:

• Grew up with parents that screamed at each other constantly and an extremely unhappy home--therefore I understand the damage done to children of unhappy parents.
• Living with tremendous financial stress and living from paycheck to paycheck and it’s affect on your financial future.
• My oldest sister almost died in a drowning as a senior in high school.
• I was hospitalized with a cast on both legs and on one arm at age 24 and I lost the thing that was most important to me, my health. A life lived wrong will cause others to loose what’s most important to them too.
• Two other sisters almost died when they were stabbed by a robber while in college. The rage I felt by this injustice and how it can destroy your life if you let it.
• My mother died at the young age of 63, just a few short years ago and how to deal with this blow in life when children loose their parents.
• And most recently, my only son that I waited until age 40 to have, at 2 years old, was given a death sentence with brain cancer.
• And many many more……

So how do you survive life’s challenges?

You’ll need to hear those answers straight from my mouth as no one can articulate those pains properly unless they have been in my shoes. But it equals an exhilarating encouragement to keep on going towards the prize and the abundant life that Jesus promises us. You CAN WIN in life!

God gave me victory though all these circumstances that I didn’t think I could overcome, and it’s all fully talked about in my new book to be released soon.
